Special Events
Greetings !

They say time flies when you're having fun. Must be true, for here it is November all ready. When did that happen? Speaking of fun, we have some great things lined up as we start our drive for the holidays.yeah, I said holidays. OK, after you've allowed that statement to settle, take a look at what we have here at the church through November on into December. Hope to see you at church!

l. Town Hall Meeting:
Over the last few years we've been able to address several goals for our church and congregation. Feeling that it's time to once again take stock of where we're at and where we want to go as a church, according to God's will for us, we're going to hold a "town hall" style meeting on Monday, November 9th, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. This will be a place where our dreams and visions for God's church can be voiced! To prepare for this meeting, there are 2 questions to ponder:

A. What could we do as God's church that would have a significantly positive effect upon the people of the church?

B. What could we do as God's church that would have a significantly positive effect on the community we serve?

OK, there you have! Hope to see at the church for the meeting on Monday, Nov. 9th

2. Baby Shower for Jesus:
This year during Advent we as a church are going to stage another great supply drive for those less fortunate in our Indian Lake community. During the 4 weeks of Advent we are asking for you to donate baby supplies that will be delivered to the Indian Lake Community Church's outreach center. They concentrate on providing supplies for babies and mothers, such as diapers, bottles, wipes, etc. etc. In addition to baby supplies, keep in mind the supplies that mothers may need, such as lotions, tissues, and other feminine supplies. By making us aware of our plans now, perhaps we can stuff the stage with supplies all through Advent. Now is the time to start saving and looking for good buys. I can't wait to see what God will do through us for this ministry assignment!

3. H1N1 Virus Update:
By now you're aware of the new strain of the flu. We even have history with it here at the church. That caused the church leaders to take stock in how we address the issue, and here's how it all shakes out.

A. Let's all use our best judgment and common sense. If you're not feeling well, stay home. (That's about the only time you'll hear me saying not to come to church!)

B. Limit the hand shaking and hugging if you're really concerned, and practice the healthy skills of coughing and sneezing into your elbow. And by all means, wash your hands frequently. We will have hand sanitizer located in the church to help those efforts.

C. We will keep the nursery open, and each week it will be thoroughly cleaned.

D. Let us pray for those who are suffering through this, and ask God to help protect us.

Again, let's use our best judgment and get through this the best way we know how.

Our Mission:
Moving people closer to God.

Our Core Principles:
Becoming spiritually healthy through worship, devotion and service to God.

Our Core Belief:

The local church of Jesus Christ is the hope of the world.

Our Core Values

1. Worshiping together is an essential catalyst for spiritual transformation in the church, and for the individual. Acts 2:42-47.

2. We believe that spiritual growth accelerates through participation in small group ministries, and through personal, life-long devotion to God. Luke 6:12-16, and Ephesians 4:17-5:2.

3. Lost people who are far from God matter to God. Therefore, they should matter to the church. Matthew 18:10-14.

4. The church should be culturally relevant, yet Biblically sound. I Corinthians 9:19-23.

5. We fully accept that God's grace is our salvation, and there is nothing we can do to earn it. Rather, we can only accept it, and then give it away as Christ has given to us. Ephesians 2:1-10.

6. Christ followers in the church should strive to be faithful stewards of their resources and gifts to the church. I Corinthians 12, and I Timothy 6:17-19.

7. Giving our best for God honors God, and inspires others. Colossians 3:15-17.

8. We believe in loving, healthy relationships throughout the church that honors God. I Corinthians 13.

9. The church should be led by those with the spiritual gifts for leadership. Romans 12:1-8.

10. Children and youth are part of the church now, and not just the church of the future. Matthew 19:13-15.

11. We give ourselves permission to be misunderstood. Matthew 5:1-12.
