Graceworks Lutheran Services will be hosting an information meeting on domestic infant and international adoption on April 8,2008 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Logan County Library in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
This meeting is free to the public. Information will be available on the placement of domestically born infants, financial assistance available for families, and different international agencies offering programs in many different countries.
To pre-register please call or email Kim Doughty at (937) 325-3441 or kdoughty@graceworks.org. If this time is inconvenient, indivi-
dual meetings can be scheduled in the Logan County area.

Apr 19th, 2008 - Harlen Band Performing at the Huntsville United Methodist Church.


The popular Christian rock band, Harlend, will be making a stop at The HUMC on Saturday, April 19th, at 7:00 PM. Harlend was formed by lead guitarist from Broken Yoke, Matt Sawmiller, and lead singer from the band, "Fuse Box." Together this 4 piece band has put up 2 hits on the radio. They have a great message that goes with their music, so you'll want to be a part of this evening...And be sure to bring as many friends as possible! Tickets for the show will be available at the door for a suggested $2.00 donation. However, no one will be turned away

The Founders of the Annual Scott Kuhn Memorial Saugeye Tournament would like to announce the Fourth Annual Tournament to be held at Indian Lake, Ohio, on April 27, 2008. This Tournament was started in 2004 to raise money for Scott’s two children’s college fund, after Scott’s untimely death in an automobile accident. Scott was a long time friend of the Founders of the Tournament, and they plan to continue this event indefinitely. Please join us for a great fishing event and an even greater cause.

All proceeds will benefit Scott’s Children.

    August 2, 2008 - Wacky Boat Race
    Starts at noon in Russells Point Harbor
    Indian Lake Elks #2792 is having their 9th Annual Wacky boat Races and Parrot Head Party August 4. This event has drawn hundreds of people. This year the mayor of Russells Point has proclaimed August 4 Indian Lake Elks Day. Everyone is invited to enter a Wacky Boat. The boat must be homemade using any material that floats, however the material must not be manufactured for marine purposes, including paddling devices. The boat can only be people powered. Registration starts at 10:30 a.m. ($15) Cash prizes are awarded. The race starts at noon and takes place in the Russells Point Harbor. The Parrot Head Party starts after the races. Music by DJ Bruce and BJ and Billy. Proceeds benefit the Ohio Elks State Charity, Cerebral Palsy.

    By boat or car putt around 17 establishments around the lake with a team of four.
    Entry fee is $60.00. Starts at 10:00 AM and must be finished by 7:00 PM

    August 16, 2008- Duck Blind Drawing
    Indian Lake State Park "Duck Blind" Drawing will be conducted on Saturday August 16, 2008 at 8:00 am at the Park Office. The drawing will be held to permit the construction of permanent duck hunting blinds at 34 sites on Indian Lake. Applicants must show their current or last year's hunting license, and current or last year's federal duck stamp and current or last year's validated state wetland stamp. Successful applicants shall pay the $50.00 permit fee construct a blind on the designated location within 45 days of the issuance of the permit.

    August 31, 2008 - Ring of Fire - 9:00 PM
    The Ring of Fire ceremony is a traditional activity celebrating a bountiful harvest and marks the end of the summer season. Flares are lighted around the perimeter of the lake at precisely 9:00 PM. If you own waterfront property you are invited to share in this ceremony. Flares can be purchased at Spend-A-Day Marina and many other business locations around the lake. Volunteers will light the State Park grounds.

    Cost is $75.00 per personor $300.00 per team and includes breakfast, golf, riding cart, range balls, team photos, proximity prizes, beverage tickets, all gratuities, low gross and low net awards and many door prizes! The grand prize of $10,000 cash for a hole in one is sponsored by Darby Building Products and Medical Billing Systems, Inc.
    Putting contest and luncheon follow the round.

    September 19-21st, 2008 -28th Annual Fall Festival

    The 28th Annual Fall Festival will be held at the Indian Lake campground on September 19th, 20th and 21st, 2008. This is one of the most popular events in Logan County with over 15,000 people attending each year.

    The Festival features over 100 art and craft displays including country crafts, woodworking, oil painting, iron work, quilting, applique shirts and cardigans, decorated herbs, floral arrangements, jewelry, toll painting, wreath making, crotchet work, and much, much more. All vendors offer their work for sale at a reasonable price.

    There is also plenty of local entertainment at the Festival. Area bands Razzmatazz & Jazz, B.J. & Billie, Jim Greer & the Mac-O-Chee Valley Folks, Roscoe & His Little Green Men, West Central Swing Band, Country Expressions and the Madriver Valley Dulcimer Group will play at their scheduled times during the Festival. A real crowd pleaser, Jo Anne's School of Dance, will perform on Sunday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. These young dancers clog, tap, and do all forms of modern dance. A square dance will be held Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. "Just Friends" will perform and "call" for the square dance.

    Indian Lake Park staff will have fresh apple cider during the Festival. Free samples are available for all visitors. Park employees also cook their famous venison stew. A long line forms around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday for this crowd favorite.

    Food is in ample supply during the weekend. The I.L. Chamber of Commerce, Kenton Coffee Cups, Indian Lake Community Church, & Knights of Columbus, are only a few of the many vendors providing a variety of sandwiches, snacks, desserts, meals, and beverages.

    On Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m., the Seedsowers provide an entertaining inspirational program for all faiths. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources will have wildlife, and parks display in the Festival area. Other attractions will be the Rescue and Miami Valley Care Flight fly-in and demonstration on both Saturday and Sunday.

    Hay wagons will take participants down to the festival area. The Indian Lake campground is located 2 miles north of Lakeview on State Route 235.

    Our Daily Bread

    Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:00 pm. at the Eagles Annex in Chippewa
    Many of the churches serve the meals,some even do the cooking, the meals are free but donations are accepted. We have delicious meals.
    Volunteers are always welcome. We hope you will join us for a meal.

     
    Chippewa Neighborhood Watch Group
    Meets at the Chippewa neighborhood Outreach Center on the 3rd Monday of every month at 5:00pm, unless a federal holiday falls on that day, then we plan around that.
    We bring a potluck meal and discuss ways to help our neighbors fight crime. We look out for the elderly around us.We also support the outreach center by sharing in activities for the youth.
